Every politician (from city up through the national arenas) should take the one minute that it takes to read and absorb this simply but precisely worded statement !

HOW simple it would then be if all immigration issues were based off a central "backbone" with this straightforward... (no bullsh--)... understanding.

She was just trying to fire the first volley of verbal "spit-balls" at her rivals; trying to appear tougher than her last showing... (when for days after the debate, she pouted and acted like she got her little feelings hurt when the big, bad boys named Edwards and Obama were picking on her... just because she couldn't make a straight statement without flippin' and a floppin').

Let them all throw their mud, jab each other, stab each other and brand one another with labels like untrustworthy, wishy-washy, dishonest and evasive.

Even the Republican candidates are getting in on the mud-slinging at each other.

I DON'T CARE ! MAYBE, Just Maybe... They shouldn't care either.

They should be able to stand straight and tall and let the "mud" slide right off their backs... without having to get down in the mud with the rest of them. BUT that can only be done IF they had a PLAN that actually ADDRESSES REAL LIVE ISSUES !

Forget about the name-calling and SHOW US YOUR DETAILED PLANS regarding better Border Security, improved Health Care, WINNING in Iraq/Afghanistan, ending Poverty in America, removing Illegal Immigrants, Homelessness, or reducing Crime in America.

Or MAYBE they could give us their "Yes" or "No" stance on many of the hot topics of today (abortion, gun control, universal health care, drug wars, crowded prisons, overtaxation, illegal aliens, overtaxed military, and on and on) WITHOUT going into a whole soliloquy and trying to straddle both sides of the fence on the straightforward issues.

Just TELL US WHAT your plan is, WHY you feel it is needed, and HOW you plan to accomplish it for the good of (legal) U.S. Americans everywhere.

Then step back, let us compare their personal qualities and plans... just LET US DECIDE who is the best candidate and which candidates SHOULD have "mud in their eyes".

L.A. is caving in to "Political Correctness". Who'da ever thunk it could happen ?

Why did the LAPD cave in to a little letter from the ACLU and Muslim-American leaders crying about someone wanting to know where large numbers of Muslims live in the city ?

MAYBE, just maybe, the LAPD should resolve this NOT by dropping their mapping plan... but by EXPANDING the plan ! Why not discover where large concentrations of other major ethnic or religious populations are in the City of Angels ???

Such expanded info could be very useful to the police, social welfare groups and city planners, (...oh, and the INS) too.

As explained in the article, Muslim-Americans were targeted in case there were terrorist sympathizers or support groups. That's a righteous, understandable reason to me.

BUT don't forget about the German-Americans, Italian-Americans, Asian-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Latino-Americans, African-Americans, Jewish-Americans, Illegal Alien-Americans... and don't forget the most abusive, vocal, vengeful and dangerous of all... the Hollywood-Americans !

Each of these groups have their own minority of dark, "shadow" cultures associated within them (and great restaurant cuisines too)... BUT why shouldn't a large city learn where its people are (both legal and Illegal) ?

IF NOT for Homeland Security reasons (and to justify why the LAPD keeps receiving millions of $$$ from that Federal Government agency)... then disregard the crying of the very misguided few (can you spell ACLU) and DO IT for the protection of the many legitimate Americans (the millions of southern Californians) !

Well, that's just GREAT !

It sounds like airport passenger screeners are getting lax, distracted, lazy or are just untrained when it comes to the 19 airport "sneak throughs" in the latest report.

We don't need another "shoe bomber" incident to get our attention. If an airplane carrying 200 or 300 or even more people is blown from our USA skies... it would shatter the airline industry. The airlines have never fully recovered from the 9/11 disastrous attacks and the following threats of terrorist plots.

In my humble opinion, the airlines had better start putting their BEST, MOST ATTENTIVE personnel at the passenger screening lines... NOT their newest, MOST Easily Distracted workers.

I'm NOT saying they are incompetent, But... IF the "sneaked through" items were obvious and blatantly overlooked by screeners, those screeners should be FIRED or at least demoted and transferred far away from screening duties.

Get some TEETH back into the screening process...hand search more bags, add more bomb-sniffing dogs, or hell, just don't allow carry-on bags any more (those bags cause enough delays & frustration anyway, when people try to jam them into the overhead compartments).

Flying is scary enough for some people... without now worrying about bombers piecing together a bomb from smuggled parts !

Well, well, well. It sounds to me like the OPEC countries are again pulling all the strings to make us dance to their music... or we don't get to dance at all. They have us over the proverbial "barrel" again (the oil barrel that is).

Now the scuttlebutt is OPEC will reject/ignore requests from oil-guzzling regions like the USA, China and Europe to increase their daily output of crude oil.

It will be the greatest of days when future technology is developed to end our dependence on Middle-East and South American oil fields.

I will eagerly support whatever form of replacement power they can develop here in the USA... solar, nuclear, hydrogen, magnetic, wind, or whatever.

Then when countries no longer need the Middle-East oil, it will be our turn to watch the OPEC leaders... maybe they can sit down to enjoy "oil sundaes"... a bowl of desert sand topped with their own unsellable crude oil.

Then we'll see who is over a "barrel". That day can't come soon enough for me.

FINALLY. He listens to the uproar and protests from the people of New York against such an idiotic idea as giving ILLEGAL (NOT undocumented) ALIENS a NY driver's license !!! What was he thinking anyway?

BUT... it sounds like the ONLY reason he dropped this pursuit was because it was causing him (and Hillary) too much grief in their own political popularity polls ! NOT because it was the wrong thing (let alone a stupid thing) to propose in the first place.

LEGAL documented immigration is great... BUT why GIVE people who snuck into the USA ILLEGALLY any more priveledges than they already have ?

What's next... should the Governor propose giving Bankrobbers (that's ILLEGAL too) a new, free checking account ? Or maybe give Car Thieves (that's ILLEGAL too) a free rental car for a week ? Or maybe give Muggers (that's ILLEGAL too) a free gold watch with every mugging?

Each of these (ILLEGAL) law-breakers would have to be registered to get their free gifts... then Governor Spitzer would definitely know where they live in his fair State of New York so he can better watch over and care for them.

The Governor worries that there are hundreds of thousands of ILLEGAL ALIENS driving in NY without a license or insurance. Instead of blaming Bush and crying to Washington for Federal help ($$$) to fix his ILLEGAL Aliens problem... MAYBE his own policing efforts should be more focused.

MAYBE he should strictly enforce the State's existing Illegal Immigrant Laws and the Unlicensed/Uninsured Motorists Laws, and...

MAYBE he should loosen the "Politically Correct" anti-Profiling restrictions now forced upon, and tying the hands of, his State and local police forces.

Why not do unscheduled, periodic roadside checks where licenses, insurance, and sobriety (and passports or green cards or visa documents) are checked ?

The old saying applies: If you aren't doing anything ILLEGAL... why would you complain about having these items looked at ?

And especially, once an ILLEGAL ALIEN is found driving illegally... DO THE RIGHT THING... SEND HIM (and his illegal family and illegal friends) BACK TO THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN !

Just a one-way ticket out of the USA. Let them apply and come back LEGALLY next time.
